What is Reiki?

Reiki, (pronounced ray-key), in the Japanese Character system, is a combination of two separate words. meaning universal, spirit, a boundless essence and meaning life force energy. Together their meaning is roughly Universal Life Energy, or Universal life force energy. Life force energy resides in everything you see around you, yourself included. All animals, plants, humans, have life force energy. When a person dies, this life force energy departs the body.

In Usui Reiki, Level Two, students are introduced to the three main Reiki symbols that are used by Reiki practitioners.

These symbols help to increase the flow of the Reiki energy and to send energy back and forward in time for specific purposes.

The mental symbol can be used to aid memory loss and bring emotions to the surface so that one is better able to deal with past hurts and traumas.
